Deliverables
Make a collage based on the futurist movement, expressive type piece based on a poem or song lyric of your choice. Express the meaning of the text.
Process
I went the futurism route for this project. The song that I have chosen is by John Lennon and was written in 1971. The lyrics to this song resonate with me on many levels with all the unrest going on in the world currently. It is as relevant today as when he wrote it.
I printed the lyrics and chose the most prevalent words or phrases and used them to create a visual poem. The text became sculptural; the rows created patterns. The message is if we live together, in peace, as one, we will survive, thrive. Can you imagine?
Deliverables
Create 2 posters for the 2020 presidential election. One is a modern style, one in the Woodpress style.
Process
The presidential election of 2020 was an extremely charged, divisive, emotional time politically.  Our country was so divided, dealing with COVIV-19, and many pertinent changes had been made to our rights that rolled back to the 1950’s. There was so much social unrest.
I chose to go for a sleek, modern poster. Direct, confident and bold. I chose the Nike motto, Just Do It and used Futura typeface. I couldn’t think of any other words that could describe how important it was to vote. For the Woodpress I wanted to get everything possible on the poster to help anyone with how they could vote and why they have to vote.
Project Brief
Create an art nouveau inspired poster with your response from the  prompt: What causes do I passionately care about and how does it relate to me?
Deliverables
The final dimensions must be 24″ x 36″ (can be portrait or landscape) are a 2:3 or 3:2 ratio

Process
Mother Earth, our beautiful planet, is the only cause that came  to mind. The four directions, North, South, East and West, the four elements, water, fires, air and earth and Mother Nature were my inspiration. I researched Native Americans and other indigenous women around the world. Their clothing, their iconography and incorporated that into one powerful image of Mother Nature as a tree. She is grounded, strong and growing in every direction. decided to incorporate that style of background as well as draw an art nouveau styled text
My original poster was dark. I reworked it with a different color palette.
